In July, Red Deer City Council voted to explore creating a municipally controlled utility corporation and in September they approved a placeholder in the budget discussions this fall.
They will hear back from Administration on what this could look like. But before they do, we need to let City Council know how important reliable, publicly delivered utilities are.
A municipally controlled utility corporation doesn’t necessarily mean selling our utilities to private interests. But these are the services we rely on and we need to keep them accountable to City Council and Red Deerians.
