Keep Red Deer’s Utilities Public.

We rely on our utilities like natural gas, electricity, and water. They are a vital part of our community.

Red Deer is one of five municipalities in Alberta that have publicly owned and operated utilities. But that could be about to change.

Right now, Red Deer’s Mayor and Council are deciding if they should set up a municipally controlled utilities corporation instead—or if they should offload our utilities to private companies.

Utility Services is the only department that actually makes the City of Red Deer money. Our utilities not only provide a reliable revenue stream for Red Deer, they also provide hundreds of good jobs to support hard-working families, who in turn spend money that fuels our local economy.

Privatization could put that at risk, while making your utility bills even more expensive.

Together, let’s keep the jobs and revenue from our utilities coming back to the residents and communities of Red Deer—and keep control of our water, natural gas, and power.
